My name is Jeremy Smellie. I’m an enthusiastic programmer who loves to create games and who currently lives in Ottawa ON. I’m currently in my last semester of Game Development Program at Algonquin College.
I’m proficient in C++, C#, OpenGL, Objective-C, HLSL, GLSL, Action Script 3 and Cocos2D X. Most of my programming knowledge is game development based.
I’ve used Unity and UDK.
I became a programmer because, from a young age, I was both inspired and intrigued by video games. This inspiration lead to many hours in front of the computer typing away to learn about how video games functioned. Ever since I’ve been putting in countless hours into learning all I can about how to make games. There are a multitude of reasons why I still love making games. This carrier choice is ever changing; no matter how many years you’ve been in this industry, you can always learn something new because new ways of doing things are always being discovered.
One of the programming practices I take to heart is readability. Even if your code is absolutely amazing, if no one can understand it then it’s worthless. Proper comments and proper naming conventions is key. There is no such thing as too many comments.
For hobbies I love to read books, play the guitar, create random art on photoshop (though I don’t think what I create should be considered art) and, of course, play a video game or two.
